Organisations with hardstanding areas have a responsibility to manage surface water runoff effectively. Without adequate protection, there’s a high risk of environmental contamination that can lead to criminal prosecution, substantial fines and costly clean-up operations.
Andel’s underground HDPE hydrocarbon separators, also known as oil interceptors, are a critical defence, capturing oil, fuel and other harmful substances before they enter watercourses via surface drainage systems.
Because of its innovative design and high-density polyethylene (HDPE) construction, Andel's hybrid interceptor/separator more durable and damage-resistant than traditional GRP alternatives.
The innovative design reduces maintenance costs with no need for component replacement.
Monolithic HDPE body – Rotationally moulded in a single, rib-reinforced piece for maximum strength and structural integrity.
Chemical and impact resistant – HDPE offers outstanding resistance to corrosion, fuels and mechanical stress – yet remains lightweight for fast, safe handling. Far more durable and damage-resistant than traditional GRP alternatives.
Low-maintenance, cost-efficient – One-piece construction with no internal components to replace means fewer installation issues, minimal servicing, and lower lifetime costs.
Andel offers both full retention and bypass separators to suit different site risk levels and drainage requirements.
Bypass models are designed to manage increased flow rates up to 10 times normal levels during storm conditions, making them ideal for lower risk areas or sites with intermittent vehicle use.
Every hybrid separator in the range incorporates a coalescence filter and a secondary module packed with polypropylene rings. This dual-stage system enhances hydrocarbon separation, delivering treated water with discharge levels below 0.1 mg/L – supporting full compliance with strict environmental standards.
With over 30 years of experience in separator and drainage system maintenance, Andel provides full aftercare support, including regular inspections in line with Environment Agency PPG3 guidelines.
To further reduce risk between inspections, we strongly recommend installing an integrated alarm system.
Each model can be paired with a choice of risers (extensions) and manhole cover options, offering flexibility for different installation depths and surface conditions.
From small commercial forecourts to large-scale industrial sites, Andel offers a full range of full retention and bypass hydrocarbon separators – with a variety of capacities and configurations to meet your exact needs.
It's an advanced, compact system designed for the efficient separation of hydrocarbons (oils, fuels) from water, meeting stringent discharge consent requirements.
It combines traditional gravity separation with additional filtration and coalescing technologies to achieve a higher degree of purification.
It's suitable for a wide range of applications including vehicle wash bays, car parks, industrial sites, fuel depots, and areas where hydrocarbon contamination of water is a risk.
The tanks body is manufactured from durable and corrosion-resistant high-density polyethylene (HDPE).
It offers superior separation efficiency, a compact footprint, ease of installation, and compliance with strict environmental discharge regulations.
While all interceptors require maintenance, the one-piece construction with no internal components to replace means fewer installation issues, minimal servicing, and lower lifetime costs.
Andel recommends that optional interceptor/separator alarm systems are added to avoid risk between service vists.
10 years.
