Over the past three years, Andel Environmental has built a strong and growing presence in Romania, led by Ioana Martin, Andel’s South East European Business Development Executive, based in Bucharest.
What began as a market development initiative—introducing the concept of leak detection and raising awareness of sustainable water management—has evolved into a period of steady growth and recognition. Today, Andel’s technologies are increasingly specified by developers, consultants and investors who are shaping the future of the built environment across the region.
If 2023 and 2024 were years of building solid foundations, 2025 marks a turning point, confirming both the maturity of the Romanian market and the essential role that intelligent leak-detection systems will play in the years ahead.
Throughout 2023 and 2024, Ioana focused on creating meaningful dialogue with architects, sustainability consultants, developers, project managers and facilities management teams. The goal was clear: to demonstrate why modern buildings need reliable water leak-detection systems—and why these solutions are about far more than technology.
Leak detection is about risk prevention, cost optimisation and sustainability performance. By positioning Andel’s solutions as a proactive protection measure rather than a reactive tool, Ioana helped to establish new partnerships and early-stage design integrations across a growing number of projects.
This period also saw Andel’s systems recognised for their contribution to BREEAM credits (WAT02, WAT03) and for their role in supporting effective risk management.
As 2025 begins, the market has reached a new stage of understanding. Water losses are now seen not merely as a utility issue, but as a risk, a cost and a potential threat to operational continuity.
Across Europe, BREEAM, ESG frameworks and emerging EU sustainability regulations are pushing leak detection forward. Investors, banks and insurers are placing greater emphasis on sustainability, transparency and risk mitigation. Buildings are now evaluated not only on their energy use and carbon footprint but also on how they manage water and prevent operational disruption.
This is where Andel’s intelligent leak-detection systems make a measurable difference. They help to:
This alignment between technology and sustainability performance is a key reason why leak detection is now shifting from optional to essential in building design and operation.
The evolution of the past three years shows that Andel Environmental is not simply providing technology—it is helping to transform the way buildings in Romania manage water, prevent risk and achieve their sustainability goals.
As Ioana reflects on the journey so far, 2025 stands as the year that confirms this direction, setting a strong foundation for the future. What is today considered a smart, forward-thinking choice will soon become an industry standard—and Ioana is proud to be part of that transformation.
